For our own good mental health, we need to kick back and spend some time being joyful and free. And you know who’s joyful and free? Children? While adults laugh, according to one scientific study, an average of only seventeen times each day, children laugh far more often than this.
Laughing has been scientifically proven to help guard against heart diseases, and it can help to relieve pain – both the emotional and the physical kind. Clearly, we need to laugh more and remember how good it feels to simply be alive.
Even if we’re not laughing, just taking time to enjoy the simple things which children still delight in can be wonderful. With that in mind, here are a few ideas to help you forget about your adult cares, and recapture your zest for life through your inner child.
- Go out in the rain and stamp in the puddles
- Make a daisy chain
- Get some friends together and play Tag
- Make fairy cakes and go way over-the-top with the edible decorations
- Feed the ducks
- Climb a tree
- Play “The Floor Is Lava”
- Make a blanket fort (great for reading in!)
