Sleep Life is a recently launched podcast from the mattress company, Simba. In it, sleep experts discuss all things sleep related. This ranges from how to fall asleep, to how to improve sleep quality, to how the sleep we get can impact our level of creativity and the quality of our relationships. A particularly good bonus are the sleep stories which are featured between each episode to help prepare your mind for sleep.
Each episode has a different focus and a different guest speaker, and these are just a few of the revelations that we found particularly interesting:
- Sleep deprivation reduces emotional empathy.
- A lack of sleep has been reported as costing the UK economy up £40 billion a year.
- If those who sleep less than six hours a night could increase their sleep to between six and seven hours a night, this could add £24 billion to the UK economy.
- A study published in the Journal of Pediatrics found that every hour of screen time a child had was linked to between three and eight fewer minutes of sleep a night.
